What happens if a vehicle is involved in a crime or accident?

Ensuring customer verification is a crucial aspect of self-drive car rental services to maintain security and reduce risks. Here are some common practices that Shiscab implement to verify their customers:

Customer Verification Practices

  1. Valid Identification:

    • Customers are usually required to present a valid government-issued ID (like a driver's license or passport) at the time of pickup.

  2. Proof of License:

    • Renters must provide a valid driver's license to ensure they are legally allowed to drive. This verification may include checking for any suspensions or restrictions.

  3. Age Verification:

    • Customers typically need to meet minimum age requirements (often 21) to rent a car, and this is verified through their ID.

  4. Credit Card Holding:

    • A credit card in the renter's name is often required for security deposits. This helps in verifying the customer's identity and provides a means for the franchise to cover any potential damages or additional charges.

  5. Online Verification:

    • online verification systems during the booking process, where customers must upload documents and provide information that is then cross-checked against databases.

  6. Phone Verification:

    • Customers may be asked to verify their phone number through a text message or call before confirming their booking.

  7. Background Checks:

    •  Perform background checks to ensure that potential renters do not have a history of reckless driving or outstanding fines.

  8. Documentation of Rental History:

    • Customers may be required to provide references or documentation of prior rental experiences, particularly for those who are new to renting.

  9. In-person Verification:

    • For certain situations, franchises may require an in-person meeting where staff can verify the customer’s identity and review their credentials before releasing a vehicle.

Implementing these verification methods helps rental companies protect against fraud, accidents, and liabilities while ensuring that customers who rent their vehicles are responsible and qualified. If you have more specific inquiries or need additional details, feel free to ask!

:In the event of a crime or accident involving a rental vehicle, franchisees must follow Shiscab's protocols for reporting and managing such incidents. This includes notifying local authorities, documenting the incident, and informing Shiscab's support team. Shiscab offers guidance and support to navigate these situations, but franchisees & car owner's are full responsible for handling & reporting all legal compliance.

Feel free to reach out to our franchise support team for any additional questions or detailed information.
